Kiwi (ex AMBAR) joins n2s to help fill the void left by psmith being unavailable for next season. Sources close to the clan said Pinks sexy Scottish accent on voice comms was the deciding factor in him signing. ;) :o

Season 18 - Week 5

March 20th, 2006

Things went pretty much to plan for our last 2 games in the current season, a win against a struggling BDI and a lost to inf. We did not really expect to get anything from the inf game as they should not have really been in div4 to start with. They had their full div2/3 side out against us and with the maps not favouring us, we were always going to struggle.

So we have the odd situation were n2s gets promoted and inf stays in div4 but I guess if they keep fielding that side they will get bumped up to div3 next season anyway. Talking of next season we lose psmith services for the whole of Season 19 due to him traveling about on holiday before university. So unless we can find a suitable replacement, I’m unsure what level we should play at anyway. Still we have a few weeks to sort it all out :)

Well played to all the teams that took part this season, roll on Season 19!

Week 2 - Rematch v Ai

March 14th, 2006

Well the Week 2 rematch with Ai took place last night but things did not go quite to plan. Maj forgot to turn up so we only had 4 players plus our non playing coach Pink. The thing is we absolutely hate playing 4v4 but it was either that or just default the game. The match then proceded after Ai agreed to drop a man.

Q3WCP22 went according to plan and we were never really worried about getting the result and the score finished 3-1 to n2s. The 2nd map turned out to be a problem as we had no idea how to play CP1 with only 4 players and picked the wrong tactics. We went a few caps down, pulled a few back then lost a few more and in the last few minutes just basically gave up as there was nothing to play for and lost some more caps to finish 3-8 down.

So close, yet so far….

As we all know Quake 4 has been an utter failure up to this point but things started to look up when ID took over from Raven to sort multiplayer out. SyncError from ID has been posting on ESR on how things are going to change for the better and the gameplay issues fixed.

We all thought great, there could be chance of a playable fun game afterall but after a few days of positive posts, its all gone downhill with all the main suggestions being refused due to gameplay engine problems.

  • Faster movement - Nope
  • Faster Rocket - Nope
  • Smaller Hitboxes - Nope
  • Sound Fixes - Nope
  • Multiple Models - Nope
  • Its good they are fixing some of the more basic issues (which should have worked out of the box) but without some major netcode tweaks and gameplay fixes, Quake 4 wll be having a very short shelf life.

    Nice typo :P

    Season 18 - Week 2 v Ai

    February 26th, 2006

Another night where we gifted the other side with a win with sloppy calling on Voice comms in a game we should have won. The first map CP22, tonys voice comms failed and his connection was playing up. This carried on for both maps meaning it was very hard to organise attacks or intercept a lost flag. Abusive comments started to fly from Ai 2nd map and they were warned about it from the admin which lead to an unsatisfactory night all round when people are just trying to have a bit of fun.

    Update

Looks like Ai have been caught with their hands in the div1 tdm cookie jar for one of its members so the result has been cancelled and the match to be replayed. Read all about it in bigfoots Week Two Review

    Season 18 - Week 1 v SARL

    February 21st, 2006

    What an evening!

As usual everything went wrong before the league game but luckly we managed to somehow get it together and get a result on the night. Details below…

We all turned up for pre league practice with Ai, an achievement in itself but then things started to go wrong :P

Maj joined the server only to find he was running at 60Hz. A few config tweaks later he somehow managed to generated an out of range vsync error and blew his monitor up! :o

SnipeZ then joined to fill in for Maj but his Router started playing up and he just lagged himself off the server. ;)

Maj then rejoins after getting Q3 running on his laptop :)

The game starts and Maj’s mouse fire button fails (hardware fault) :(

With no spare players and no spare mouse Maj plays on binding a key to fire

We then play the League games with poor old Maj struggling away trying to move and fire with his makeshift layout and all respect to him for doing it so we could all play 5v5.
